Cartier Tank Watch Collection Debuts in London

By Paul Joseph

French luxury watch and jewellery brand Cartier launched its new Tank Anglaise timepiece in London last week.

A new addition to the brand’s legendary Cartier Tank collection, the Tank Anglaise was showcased at the Kensington Palace Orangery in west London.

Available for both men and women in three case sizes, the watch retains the classic lines and simplicity of its predecessors. All three sizes of models are available in three metals; pink gold, yellow gold and white gold.

Other notable features include a sapphire case back, a Côtes de Genève motif on the rotor, and an 18-carat rhodium-plated white gold strap.

Created in 1917 as a rectangular alternative to the curved watches popular at the time, the Cartier Tank has become one of the last century’s most iconic watches. Famous wearers of the Tank over the years include Andy Warhol, Truman Capote and Marlene Dietrich.

The new Tank Anglaise timepiece by Cartier is available from June, ranging between £4,700 and £103,000 in price, depending on specification.
