Cartier Unveil Sapphire Pendant at SIHH Watch Fair

By Paul Joseph

Among the dazzling array of trinkets on display at the 2016 SIHH watch fair in Geneva, which came to a close last week, was a striking piece by iconic French jewellery house Cartier.

Part pendant, part watch, the Tourbillon Mystérieux Azuré features a diamond and sapphire encrusted exterior that captured plenty of attention at the prestigious Switzerland event.

Most notable is its design inspired by a butterfly, with outstretched wings consisting of row upon row of glistening diamonds and dark blue sapphires.

At the centre of the transparent dial is a double tourbillon, while the Swiss manual-wind Cartier in-house caliber 9463 MC movement is visible through the sapphire crystal case back.

The chain is comprised of geometric motifs also studded with diamonds, while a detachable 25.93-carat oval sapphire from Sri Lanka is suspended from the pendant

Founded by Louis-François Cartier in Paris in 1847, Cartier has grown to become one of the world’s most illustrious luxury brands.
