Japanese watchmakers Casio have marked the 35th anniversary of their iconic G-Shock timepiece by bringing to life an all-gold concept unveiled back in 2015.

The 18-karat yellow gold G-Shock comes with a price-tag of approximately $69,500, making it the most expensive watch created by Casio in its long and illustrious history.

Casio have left the legendary design relatively untouched, meaning it retains the same retro aesthetic with a trademarked Tough Solar charging system inside.

According to the brand, the anniversary edition will feature 38 different time zones, an LED backlight, and their Multi-Band 6 technology for automatic time adjustment that uses radio wave tech from six stations around the world for split-second time correction.

Only 35 examples will be made and would-be owners must pre-order their requests on Casio’s online store on 15 May 2019, with shipment following in December.

Founded by Tadao Kashio in Tokyo in 1946, Casio has grown to become one of the world’s most popular mass-market watch and consumer electronics brands.
