Chanel to Launch Updated No. 5 Fragrance
French luxury brand Chanel has announced that it is to launch a new and updated version of its iconic No. 5 fragrance.
Called Chanel No. 5 L’Eau, it has been created by perfumer Olivier Polge and is being billed as the freshest version of the classic fragrance.
The fifth interpretation of No. 5, L’Eau features the May rose at its core. These flowers only bloom for two weeks in a year and are harvested in Grasse, France. The scent’s top notes include lemon, mandarin, orange, neroli and aldehydes which give way to a heart of rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine. Cedar and White musk give the fragrance a classic feminine base.
“I wanted to tell the story in a different way and with very contemporary aspects,” Polge said. “No. 5 is a pillar of our identity, and we produce it all year long. So for any fragrance we create, [Chanel No. 5] is in the back of our mind and part of our sensibility.”
The fragrance is presented in a modern crystal version of the well-known square bottle and can be pre-ordered now, with an official launch in September.
Chanel No.5.was first launched in 1921 by the brand’s eponymous founder Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel.
Founded in Paris in 1909, Chanel has grown to become one of the world’s most renowned luxury brands.
