Chelsea Art Fair to Celebrate 21st Birthday

By Paul Joseph

The 21st edition of the Chelsea Art Fair, one of London’s most popular art events, takes place this April, with dozens of leading UK and international galleries along with vast numbers of art enthusiasts set to attend.

A total of 30 galleries are expected to be present under the roof of the Chelsea Old Town Hall on the King’s Road in west London, showcasing their wares in front of a dedicated audience of art lovers and prospective buyers.

Held over four days, first-time visitors can expect a rich and diverse range of artworks for sale, both in terms of pricing and genre. Paintings, prints, and sculptures are all well represented, spanning contemporary, modern and classic era.

The event has enjoyed significant growth in recent years, with exhibition spaces in high demand. This has enabled organisers to implement a rigorous vetting process – along with strict guidelines – to ensure a strong calibre of galleries.

Each gallery must show a minimum of three artists, and no living artist can be represented by more than one gallery. Furthermore, prints are limited to editions of no more than 75 and must be signed by the artist. There is a minimum value per work of £500.

The 2016 Chelsea Art Fair takes place from 21 – 24 April.
