Chopard and Zagato Create Mille Miglia-Themed Chronographs

By Paul Joseph

Swiss luxury jeweller Chopard and Italian coachbuilder Zagato have teamed up to design a limited edition chronograph inspired by the historical Mille Miglia endurance car race.

The new timepiece, which is available in either black DLC-coated steel or two-tone 18-karat rose gold has been created to mark the 25th year of Chopard serving as the sponsor and official timekeeper of the Mille Miglia.

A self-winding chronograph movement comes with date and dual-time displays chosen by Chopard for its reliability and sturdiness, while the watch also boasts a 42.5mm steel case with a DLC coating.

It comes in an all-black or fitted with a rose gold bezel featuring a red insert bearing the 24-hour dual-time graduation.

Other notable features include a start/stop chronograph pusher matching the colour of the bezel, and a red-lacquered tip to symbolize both Zagato and the Mille Miglia. The strap also boasts some distinctive Zagato hallmarks, including bright red stitching on the leather.

The Mille Miglia Zagato is issued in a 500-piece limited series for the black DLC-coated steel version and the same for the two-tone 18-karat rose gold version.
