Christie’s Announces Winter Jewellery Auctions in New York

Christie’s auction house has announced its schedule for two prestigious jewellery auctions to be held in New York next week.

Starting with a live saleroom auction of Magnificent Jewels on December 10 and continuing with a companion online boutique of Holiday Jewels the following day, the sales will see a dazzling array of jewels go under the hammer.

Among the pieces to be sold will include both coloured and colourless diamonds, rare gemstones, natural pearls, and signed creations from the most coveted jewellery houses.

The Magnificent Jewels auction will feature more than 500 lots, including signed pieces from Boucheron, Cartier, David Webb, Harry Winston and Van Cleef & Arpels. Jewellery from the estate of New York philanthropist and socialite Carroll Petrie crowning the evening session.

Notable lots from the selection will include an art deco coral bracelet by Cartier, a diamond and gold ballerina brooch designed in arabesque pose, and two ‘Mystery Set’ flower brooches by Van Cleef & Arpels.

Estimates range from $2,000 to over $4 million and the entire Magnificent Jewels auctio1n will be on public view from December 5 through to December 9 at Christie’s Rockefeller Center galleries.

Less than 24 hours later, and in time for the holiday season, the Holiday Jewels sale will include jewellery ranging from classic diamond earrings to an assortment of vintage-inspired pieces by Fred Leighton. The online sale will be open until December 21.
