CocoMaya: Sumptuous Fusion Food with a Beach Chic Vibe
Step through the doors of CocoMaya, nestled in Spanish Town on the southern coast of Virgin Gorda, and you are greeted with some of the most stunning views to be found anywhere on the British Virgin Islands.
Overlooking the Sir Francis Drake Channel and with a pristine white sand beach separating the restaurant from the ocean, this is destination dining at its finest, combining a jaw-dropping setting with mouth-watering cuisine.
Yet while the dramatic landscapes surrounding CocoMaya lend it a certain majesty and splendour, the ambience remains relaxed and tranquil – though the atmosphere ramps up significantly during the regular Full Moon, Yacht Week and Moet Ice White parties that are held here, as well as live weekly acoustic guitar sessions and twice-weekly DJ’s.
In short, Coco Maya’s offers unadulterated beach chic, with al fresco dining allowing guests to enjoy a magical experience with the sand and sea almost lapping at their toes before letting their hair down and partying till the early hours.
For a more intimate setting, guests can even hire private upstairs dining rooms for secluded meals with family and friends, or perhaps a romantic candlelit dinner. Furthermore, the restaurant is also stepping up its private beach dinner service, featuring a choice of a la carte or seasonal chefs tasting menus.
As for the food, the concept is Asian-Latin fusion with a large and varied menu of tapas/sharing plates featuring chef’s specials such as the CocoMaya roll – tempura shrimp and avocado sushi in a deep fried roll with home-made spicy mayo.
An extensive wine list boasts over 150 wines from all corners of the world, while a fun and vibrant bar serves up exotic craft cocktails, concocted by CocoMaya’s international mixologists, such as the popular Tanqueray and Tonic, featuring fennel, lemon and black peppercorn.
Together these are the reasons why so many flock to CocoMaya – a place to be seen, to live life to the full and to experience the vibe that makes the British Virgin Islands so unique.
During Season they are open from Monday – Saturday, 12pm till late. Lunch is served from 12pm – 3pm. and dinner 5pm till 10.30pm. CocoMaya was recently voted in the Gold status for top beach clubs in the world by Conde Nast Traveller magazine.
