Crown of Light: The First Ever Diamond Brand to Exhibit at MYS

By Paul Joseph

When the 28th edition of the Monaco Yacht Show kicks off later this month, its ranking as one of the world’s most prestigious luxury gatherings will be further enhanced by the presence of an eye-catching diamond brand called Crown of Light.

The US-based brand will be making history by becoming the first ever diamond maker to exhibit at the show, a notable landmark for the event which has grown to become one of the pinnacles of the superyachts calendar.

But in keeping with the four-day show’s flamboyant reputation, these are no ordinary diamonds. Artfully hand polished by 200 of the world’s elite diamond cutters, their patented cut features an incredible 90 facets, allowing them to produce more sparkle than any other diamonds in history, and ensuring they’ll be more than a match for the dazzling yachts vying for attention in Monaco’s iconic Port Hercules.

Among the pieces on display will be the new Couture Collection, featuring a range of pieces available in either platinum or 18-karat yellow gold, each including diamonds said to be identical in symmetry, colour, clarity and karat weight.

Crown of Light’s desire to showcase the shimmering qualities of its diamonds in Monaco is also part of a wider long-term plan by its parent company, Diamonds International, to offer something truly unique to the industry – creating so-called “private jewellery trunk shows” that bring its decadent jewellery directly aboard superyachts.

One of the world’s largest jewellery retailers, and the largest tax and duty-free watch and jewellery retailer in the Caribbean, Diamonds International boasts a vast network that spans 100 stores in 20 countries across the Caribbean, Mexico and the US, offering an unrivalled selection of certified loose diamonds, rare gemstones, designer jewellery and timepiece brands. This impressive breath allows the company to service distribution of its products directly to superyachts cruising in waters that are otherwise isolated from high-end goods.

Until now, owners and guests on these yachts wishing to peruse or purchase luxury jewellery would need to disembark and head into what are often undesirable town centres, where bricks and mortar jewellery retailers can typically be found. But now they can experience the pleasures of retail therapy from the sumptuous comfort of their own yacht, providing the perfect setting in which to see and touch the jewellery and decide whether to take the plunge.

Described by Crown of Light as “private jewellery trunk shows”, these lavish but intimate events can even be included as part of an itinerary proposed by yacht brokers for charter guests, along with more traditional activities such as parasailing, jetskiing and scubadiving. Or as a truly unique anniversary gift, a broker could even suggest that a man incorporates a jewellery trunk show as a surprise for their wife during their yachting adventure.

Over the past decade Crown of Light have built a hugely impressive reputation among diamond connoisseurs across the world. Billed as a triumph of cutting expertise fused with ingenious design, its diamonds’ strategically positioned facets create an innovative cut – distinguished by a striking dome – which hones their unparalleled sparkle.

A wide range of Crown of Light jewellery will be on display at the Monaco Yacht Show from 26-29 September. For more information on Crown of Lights collections, click here.
