Details and images have been released on the first ever Baccarat Hotel, which is set to open in New York in December.

The historical French glass-maker, which is owned by Starwood Capital, will open the hotel on Manhattan’s 53rd street, directly across from the prestigious MoMA (Museum of Modern Art).

Designed by French duo Dorothée Boissier and Patrick Gilles, the hotel occupies part of a 42-storey glass and steel tower and is billed as featuring an 18th century aesthetic while maintaining an essence of contemporary New York lifestyle.

A French touch is evident throughout, with works of art, including several on the theme of Baccarat’s signature Harcourt glass, dotted around the hotel.

The hotel’s 26 suites will each house Baccarat crystal including a crystal bar with a Parisian terrace, chandeliers hanging from 40-foot ceilings and custom-made bronze sparkling with crystal.

Future Baccarat Hotel are planned for Rabat, Morocco in 2015, followed by Dubai by the close of 2018.

Baccarat was founded in Paris, France in 1764.
