Doha’s Airport First to Get a Harrods Tea Room

Qatar already had a reputation for luxury and now visitors to the Arab country are greeted by another major symbol of opulence in the shape of a Harrods Team Room.

Doha Airport – also known as Hamad International Airport - is Qatar’s most important transport hubs, and it recently became the world’s first airport to receive a Harrods Tea Room.

Here, connoisseurs can enjoy a range of Harrods specialties including a selection of teas from the Harrods Food Halls and a pastries menu. Patrons can also sample decadent gelato and cream-filled goodies at the dedicated ice-cream parlor within the tea room.

Décor-wise, the shop features classic-style furniture with curved backs and stitching details, brass finishing on tables and lighting and Herringbone timber flooring, plus classic traditional tiling with an abstract peacock theme.

Speaking about the launch, H.E. Al Baker, the airport’s COO, said, “I am incredibly proud to be here today as Qatar Duty Free officially opens the Harrods Tea Room at HIA – a world first for an airport.

“Harrods is an iconic institution that is all about the customer experience from start to finish and, in this regard, it is the perfect partner for Qatar Duty Free and the wider Qatar Airways group.”

The Harrods Tea Room at Doha Airport was officially inaugurated on 12 December.
