Dubai Set to Build Private Floating Islands

A collection of luxury floating islands is to be developed on The World, Dubai’s man-made archipelago comprising 300 islands, after the green light was given on the project.

Part of the Oqyana World First development on The World, the 33 private islands will each boast their own garden, pool and beach and will be tailored to each owner’s specifications.

According to Amillarah Private Islands, who are working with Oqyana Real Estate on the new development, the islands will be completely stable on the water, with a base that is built to last for over 100 years.

“Nakheel has now granted our project with all the necessary permits in order to take the next step,” Oqyana Real Estate and Amillarah Private Islands said in a joint statement.

Last month Kleindienst Group, developer of the Heart of Europe project on The World, claimed it had sold 35 of 42 of its 'floating seahorses' residences, which will feature a master bedroom and bathroom totally submerged underwater.

The World project is 9km wide and 7km long and comprises high-end villas, apartments, hospitality and retail elements.
