Dyson’s Innovative LED Lamp Could Last for 60 Years

By Paul Joseph

British household appliance makers Dyson have unveiled an innovative new app-controlled LED Lamp that it is claimed could have a lifespan of an incredible six decades.

Called the Dyson Lightcycle, the ambient Lamp works via a smartphone app and comes in both desk and floor lamp versions and is built to automatically adjust its lighting temperature based on ambient light or time of day.

Featuring an eye-catching industrial design, the Lamp is connectible to the Dyson Linkapp and can track local daylight and adapt the temperature and brightness of the light, helping you keep your body clock in sync with the real world.

It offers 6 preset modes that can also be worked manually with slide-touch dimming and colour temperature selection based on your preference.

Other features of the Dyson Lightcycle include over 1,000 Lux brightness, low optical flicker and ‘glare protection’ along with an ambient light sensor that self-adjusts to background light.

Speaking about the smart light, its creator Jake Dyson said, “Light matters to our wellbeing and task performance. When trying to recreate the characteristics of daylight, light quality is vital. So we developed a way to protect it for the long term.”

The Dyson Lightcycle desk and floor standing models are priced at $449.99 and $649.99, respectively.
