E-Type Speedster Lightweight to Launch at Salon Privé

By P. Joseph

Jaguar E-Type specialists Eagle are to debut the E-Type Speedster Lightweight - billed as the world’s most exclusive hand built car – at next week’s Salon Privé event in London.

The authentic 1960s model will be showcased as part of the event’s supercar Concours d’Elegance at Syon House in west London between 22nd and 24th June.

Manufacturers claim that the reworked car boasts muscular styling, fresh classic detailing, and the performance of a contemporary supercar, whilst retaining its original appearance.

Beneath the Speedster Lightweight's body, every component has been improved and often lightened, resulting in a weight of just 1000kg. The original aluminium 4.7 litre fuel injected engine and aluminium drive train remain, whilst the power-to-weight ratio matches that of modern-day sports cars.

Henry Pearman, founder of Eagle, said: “The elements in this remarkable alchemy are an original Jaguar E-Type, thirty years of dedicated experience, and the absolute cream of our widely acclaimed engineering developments and upgrades.”

The first Speedster was built as a special one-off commission for an American client who requested something even more exceptional than ‘usual’ bespoke Jaguar E-Type roadsters.

Since its formation in 1982, Eagle has gained a global reputation as an E Type specialist, offering a collection of E-Types for sale, ranging from the earliest original specification dealer launch examples through to fully developed cars.
