Etihad Offers Hotel-Style Luxury with On-Board ‘Residences’

By Paul Joseph

Airline companies are constantly thinking up new ways to make the flying experience more comfortable for its high-end passengers. But now Etihad Airways have taken these efforts to a new level by creating an in-flight sanctuary more akin to a luxury hotel room than something you’d find on a jumbo jet.

Named ‘The Residence’, the three-room private suites will be located at the front of the upper deck of every new Etihad Airways A380 and will boast an array of lavish facilities including living room, separate bedroom and an en-suite bathroom.

The living room will feature a Poltrona Frau leather double-seat sofa with ottoman, two dining tables, drinks cabinet and 32-inch flat screen TV, while a soft-carpeted hallway will lead to the en-suite bathroom with shower, exclusive toiletries and bathrobes.

The bedroom is decorated with delicate fabrics and furnished with natural fibre mattress double bed, Egyptian cotton sheets and selection of pillows.

In addition to enjoying the decadent confines, guests in The Residence will have access to a personal Butler throughout their flight, while a dedicated VIP Travel Concierge team will be available to deal with requests including ground transport, cuisine, and amenities.

Etihad Airways has a total of ten A380s aircraft on order, with the first set to enter operation in December.

Etihad Airways was founded in Abu Dhabi in 2003.
