By Paul Joseph

A highly sought after Ferrari F40 built in 1991 was the star sale at a record breaking auction in Paris recently, fetching over €1 million euros.

The sale occurred at the 8th edition of the “Automobiles sur les Champs” auction by the Artcurial auction house, which yielded an impressive €11.2 million euros.

A total of 80% of the lots were sold at the auction, which saw six world records broken in front of large crowd of onlookers and bidders.

Among the notable sales as a Porsche 911 ST 2.3L Rallye Coupé, which fetched €908,900, a Bugatti Type 13 Brescia (€905,900), an Alpine A210 Berlinette Le Mans (€478,000), a Maserati Khamsin (€274,200), a Ferrari 308 GTB (€202,600) and a Fiat Dino 2400 Spider (€188,300).

But the most eye-opening sale was reserved for the 1991 Ferrari F40, which will not surely take pride of place in the garage of one lucky – and determined – car lover.

Artcurial auction house offers more than 100 auction sales each year.
