Flagship Mayfair Stores Invites Guests into the Home of Dunhill

By Paul Joseph

British luxury brand Alfred Dunhill has created a series of ‘Home Experiences’ which allows guests to immerse themselves in a world of luxury in the lavish surroundings of Bourdon House, the brand’s lavish flagship store.

Housed in a magnificent Georgian mansion in London’s prestigious Mayfair district, just off of Berkley Square, the store is steeped in history, and was formerly the residence of the Duke of Westminster (who remains the building's de facto landlord).

Rather than being a traditional retail space, Bourdon House is more akin to the famous Parisian ‘Maisons’, offering not just shopping, but a range of luxury services including a Barber Room, Spa, Bar Lounge, Cinema Room, Humidor, and tailoring suite.

Dunhill’s specially-created Home Experiences are held throughout these rooms, and involve several personalised services designed to deliver the ultimate in luxury pampering for the “gentleman who has everything”.

The Discovery Experience includes a custom suit and shirt consultation and fitting in the venue’s Bespoke Tailor’s Room, chosing from an extensive collection of the finest British and Italian cloths, a classic wet shave and haircut in the barber’s room, a relaxing massage in the Spa, lunch in the Cellar Bar with three guests, and a leisurely afternoon in the cinema room with up to eleven guests.

The Mayfair Experience includes a custom suit and shirt consultation and fitting and a classic cut-throat shave complete with hot towel treatment.

Each experience features an emphasis on personalised service that is evident before you even enter Bourdon House, as you pass through an attractive terrace within a walled courtyard, dotted with stylish tables and chairs for visitors to relax and unwind.

Once inside, the ground floor Dunhill Emporium is resplendent with mahogany wood and golden pillars, with two large rooms given over to showcasing the best of Dunhill’s luxury collections. Meanwhile a suit fitting room can be found at the far end of the store for both bespoke and off-the-peg fittings.

Downstairs takes you to the relaxed Cellar Bar, a lounge area serving food and drinks, as well as a Spa, a 12-seater cinema room, and a lavish humidified lounge lined with a fine selection of Cuban Cigars and safes that people can hire to secure their cigar collections.

On the first floor resides a bespoke tailor’s room, a Discovery room offering a range of Dunhill accessories and some of the brand's more obscure products, as well as a bespoke leather service performed on-site every Thursday by a master craftsman, whilst a plush old-school Gentleman’s barber evokes a golden age of barber shops.

It all amounts to a truly unique space where visitors can come and enjoy the values and lifestyle that remain synonymous with one of the world’s enduring and iconic luxury brands.
