Gucci Launch Micky Mouse Capsule Collection

By Paul Joseph

Micky Mouse, the iconic Disney character, has been used as the inspiration for a number of fashion brands down the years and the latest to treat the famous mouse as its muse is Gucci.

Introduced in commemoration of the Chinese New Year, the Italian fashion house recently unveiled an entire capsule collection themed around Micky Mouse featuring women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, footwear, small leather goods, scarves, jewellery and several accessories, all featuring the brand’s signature motif along with imagery of the cartoon character.

At the core of the collection is a beige and ebony fabric that showcases a vintage signature Gucci pattern from the 1980s replicated via digital printing along with the image of Micky Mouse in varying scales.

The eclectic fabric and design can be seen on a new Mini GG Supreme canvas as well as on handbags and small leather goods ranging from small bucket bags and mini backpacks to wallets, passport cases, and iPhone covers.

Gucci also roped in photographer and director Harmony Korine to shoot a dedicated advertising campaign for the collection that features brand ambassador and actress Ni Ni, actor Earl Cave and designer and poet Zoë Bleu against beautiful backdrops in Disneyland.

Gucci’s Mickey-Mouse themed capsule collection will be available at select Gucci stores worldwide as well as at a series of ‘Gucci Pin’ pop-up stores throughout January.

Founded by Guccio Gucci in Florence, Italy in 1921, Gucci has grown to become one of the world’s most famous fashion houses.
