Following on from news that carmakers Porsche are to open a high-end restaurant, Italian fashion brand Gucci have followed suit with their own lavish eatery.

Located in the in the IAPM luxury shopping centre in the Chinese city of Shanghai, the 1921 Gucci Café – named after the year the brand was founded – features a primarily Italian menu.

The restaurant is accessed via an elevator from the Gucci store in the mall. Once inside, diners are surrounded by velvet, pillows, and Gucci-emblazoned items including silverware, napkins, and menus.

Earlier this month German car brand Porsche opened Restaurant 356 in Atlanta, United States as part of the $100-million Porsche Experience Center and headquarters of Porsche Cars North America.

The restaurant offers panoramic views of Porsche's 1.6-mile driver-development track.

Founded by Guccio Gucci in Florence, Italy in 1921, Gucci has grown to become one of the world’s most famous luxury fashion labels.
