The long-awaited Gulfstream G650 was rolled out of the shed yesterday; the largest, fastest and most technologically advanced in the Gulfstream fleet.

Production of the G650 was first announced in 2008 with an extra-large cabin and super-long range announced as some of the aircraft’s highlights.

The G650 features a cabin that measures 260 centimetres wide and 195 high making it the largest purpose-built cabin in business aviation.

Between 11 and 18 passengers can fly at once with 16 large panoramic windows, improved sound levels, vacuum toilet system, and in-flight access to 59 cubic metres of usable volume in the baggage compartment making for improved comfort levels.

The G650 will become the world’s fastest civil aircraft flying with a maximum speed of 0.925, and will be capable of travelling 7,000 nautical miles at 0.85 Mach.

The aircraft’s first flight is scheduled for later this year and is expected to be certified next year prior to delivery in 2012.
