Hublot $5 Million Watch Sold to Asian Watch Retailer

By Paul Joseph

A stunning $5 million Hublot timepiece – unveiled at the BaselWorld watch fair currently taking place in Switzerland – has been purchased by leading Asian watch retailer The Hour Glass Singapore.

Featuring 1282 diamonds (totalling more than 140 carats), the timepiece was the most expensive timepiece on display at the prestigious watch fair.

The watch, which required 17 people across 14 months to be created, is a specially crafted addition to Hublot’s Big Bang range of timepieces, and is billed as the brand’s most precious watch ever created.

It also boasts a 44mm, 18-carat white gold case, an 18-carat white gold bracelet, dial and crown, 6 square emerald cut stones, a HUB 1100 self-winding mechanical movement and a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.

Founded in 1980 by Carlo Crocco, Hublot is owned by France-based luxury goods giants LVMH.

BaselWorld runs until March 15th.
