International Arts World Descends on London for Masterpiece 2014
The 2014 edition of Masterpiece London is currently in full swing, with the world’s biggest art galleries in the UK capital for one of the most prestigious events on the international arts calendar.
Taking place in the grounds of The Royal Hospital Chelsea in west London, the event offers museum-quality art, antiques, jewellery and design from over 150 renowned galleries from across the globe.
The works on display are said to span over 3000 years’ worth of art history, from antiquity to contemporary. Each item on display at the fair is vetted by 26 committees of independent experts and specialists to ensure it has sufficient provenance and quality.
Among the notable pieces being showcased are “The Masterpiece”, commissioned by Blain|Southern (London, Berlin, New York) from acclaimed British artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster.
Other artists to have made an impact at the fair include Rob and Nick Carter, who are being exhibited by the Fine Art Society (London) and are renowned for using digital technology with still life photography.
Also new for 2014 is an exhibition of significant large-scale outdoor sculpture by Phillip King in association with Thomas Dane Gallery (London), Located in the South Grounds of the Royals Hospital Chelsea and Ranelagh Gardens, the exhibition will remain on view throughout the summer.
