IWC Opens New Boutique in Macau

By Paul Joseph

Swiss watch makers IWC have opened a new boutique on the Chinese island of Macau.

Located in the prestigious Galaxy Macau resort, the new boutique features a comprehensive collection of IWC watches.

Often called the Asian Las Vegas, Macau has strong connections with IWC. After the legendary Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama completed his historical trip to India in the 15th century, many of his compatriots followed suit and settled in the Orient, one of the most popular destinations being the island of Macau.

In 1939, IWC Schaffhausen made its first watches to order for two importers from Lisbon and Porto, and has since maintained close links with the country’s rich history of seafaring.

Georges Kern, CEO of IWC, said: “We are proud to announce the opening of our IWC boutique in Macau because it represents another milestone in the brand’s worldwide expansion.

“Macau attracts a discerning and affluent clientele, among them many watch enthusiasts and collectors, who will appreciate the welcoming and refined ambience we have created at the new Galaxy Macau boutique.”

The Galaxy Macau boutique opening follows the launch of IWC’s Asian flagship store in Hong Kong 3 years ago.
