Jaquet Droz Create Paillonné Enamelled Watch Range
Swiss watchmakers Jaquet Droz have created three limited edition timepieces crafted using the highly-skilled technique of paillonné enameling.
Each of the three models are limited to 8 pieces and all have undergone the striking ornamental technique, which combines azure and gold, on their dials.
The ancient method is used to adorn dials with gold paillons which are placed with surgical precision under translucent enamel fondant. This involves several firings at temperatures that can approach 1000 °C.
Priced at $39,900, the Petite Heure Minute Paillonnée contains a JD 2653 self-winding automatic movement (30 jewels) with 68 hours of power reserve, while its dial has a Grand Blue paillonné-enameled 18-carat red gold ring and plate.
Costing $42,000, the Grande Seconde Paillonnée has a JD 2663 automatic movement (30 jewels), 68 hours of power reserve and 22-carat white gold oscillating weight.
The most expensive watch of the three, priced at $47,000, is the Pocket Watch Paillonnée which has a JD 1615 hand-wound movement (20 jewels) with 40 hours of power reserve.
Other notable features on all of the limited edition watches are 18–carat red gold cases and blued steel hands.
