American singer Lady Gaga has been announced as the face of the spring 2014 Versace campaign.

Photographed by Mert Alas and Macus Piggot, the campaign features Lady Gaga draped across a couch, with her platinum blonde hair reminiscent of that sported by Donatella Versace, chief designer of the Versace group.

“I am honoured that my friend Lady Gaga is the face of our new Versace campaign,” Donatella Versace said. “I wanted to capture her true beauty and spirit in images that are elegant and alluring. She is like family to me, the embodiment of the Versace DNA.”

In the main campaign shot, the singer wears a lilac-coloured bandage dress with the brand’s famous Medusa head emblem appearing on chunky silver accessories.

“The campaign shows how Lady Gaga completely captures the Versace essence: creative, experimental, fearless,” Versace said in a press release.

Lady Gaga is a renowned fan of the Italian fashion house and has regularly worn Versace pieces for public appearances, including most recently a vintage metal mesh cocktail dress, a pair of lilac platform sandals from the Spring 2014 runway collection and a matching purple python ‘Signature’ handbag.

The track “Donatella,” from her album “ARTPOP” was also written in honour of Donatella Versace, the daughter of the company’s late founder Gianni Versace.
