Lalique Launches Equestrian Collection

By Paul Joseph

French glass makers Lalique have created a new equestrian-inspired collection to mark the upcoming Chinese Year of the Horse.

The collection features a range of exquisitely crafted sculptures, including a 2 Wild Horses sculpture, a Gold Lustre Mustang vase and a Gold Lustre Kazak horse sculpture.

But perhaps the standout pieces in the collection are a Horse’s Head in black crystal and alimited edition Equus Vase.

Carved and polished by hand over three days by Lalique’s master glass workers, the Horse Head is made from one single block of black crystal. Meanwhile standing 38 cm tall and weighing in at 13.8kg, the Equus Vase is limited to just 999 pieces and required seven glassmakers, five days of annealing, and 30 kg of crude crystal to complete.

Lalique was founded by René Laliquein the late 19th century. In recent times the it has reinvented itself as a luxury lifestyle brand, specialising in crystal jewellery, perfumes, decorative objects, interior design, and art pieces.
