Lamborghini LP670-4 SuperVeloce hits the streets

Adrenaline junkies will want to sit up and take notice of the newest offering from Automobili Lamborghini: the Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce, whose incredible specifications put its predecessors to shame.

If you thought that Automobili Lamborghini's standard Murcielago coupe and roadster with their 640-horsepower were incredible, wait until you experience the SuperVeloce.

Its full name is the Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce and, though its a mouthful, each part of the title has a specific meaning. 'LP' stands for longitudinale posteriore, which is in reference to the engine's north-south orientation and placement in the rear end. '670' is the horsepower quotient while the '4' refers to the four wheels. 'SuperVeloce' is Italian for 'superfast' and yes it is, almost painfully so.

The SuperVeloce is incredibly light, with everything from the chassis to the internal components weighing 220 pounds less than its plain-Jane predecessor. With it's cutting-edge free-flowing exhaust system helping to free up an additional 30 horsepower from the 6.5 litre V-12.

The SuperVeloce goes zero to sixty in an unbelievable 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 212 miles per hour. An optional Aeropack rear wing is available which augments the cars downward force but knock 3 mph off of the top speed.

Lamborghini intend to build only 350 SuperVeloce, which they view as an exceptionally purist vehicle, and which will be sold at a price approximately 20 percent higher than the standard Murcielago LP640 coupe.
