Lamborghini Unveils New Aventador Roadster

Italian luxury sports car makers Lamborghini have released the new Aventador LP700-4 Roadster, boasting a removable carbon-fibre roof.

Powered by a 700 horsepower 6.5-liter aspirated V12, the convertible Roadster can reach top speeds of 350 km/h (217 mph) and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in three seconds.

But its most distinctive feature is the car’s carbon-fibre roof, made using Lamborghini’s own Forged Composite tech, which creates a material stronger than titanium but less dense. Each of its two pieces weigh under 6 kg, and can be stored in the vehicle's front luggage compartment when not in use.

Other notable amendments from previous Aventador models include a powered rear windshield that varies the flow of air and engine noise inside the vehicle when the top is off, along with a wind deflector that fits onto the front windshield frame and can also be stowed in the luggage compartment during open top drives.

The Roadster’s bodywork has been given a two-tone finish, with gloss black used for the pillars, roof and rear window area. A new Azzuro Thetis colour, inspired by the colour of the 1968 Miura Roadster, is also offered.

The price of the new Lamborghini Aventador Roadster in mainland Europe is €300,000 (£240,000) plus tax. It will go on sale in the UK next summer.
