Los Angeles Mansion “America’s Most Expensive Home”

By Paul Joseph

In a country awash with beautiful homes, the well-heeled Los Angeles neighbourhood of Bel Air is particularly blessed. And now it can lay claim to the most expensive home in the whole of America.

Made famous by “Fresh Prince of Bel Air”, the 1990s sit-com starring Will Smith, the exclusive district has recently seen a 38,000 square foot mega mansion listed on the market. The price? A cool £250 million.

Offering stunning views from Malibu to the San Gabriel Mountains, the plush property boasts a grand total of 12 bedrooms and 21 bathrooms, along with 3 kitchens, a bowling alley, a movie theatre, a candy room and an infinity pool featuring its own swim-up bar  - perfect for decadent summer pool parties.

But that’s only the half of it. The home also includes a couple of even more outlandish features -  a decommissioned helicopter from the 1980s-television show “Airwolf” which is parked on the roof, and a $30-million car collection.

Run by a staff of 7, whose, the home comes fully furnished, including 100 art installations dotted around the lavish estate.

Real estate developer, Bruce Makowsky, said:  “I wanted to redefine what super-high-end luxury homes are all about. I wanted to break all the molds. The level of quality and attention to detail in this house is unsurpassed. And I wanted to create the greatest feeling that you can have being at home.”

The car collection includes a Pagani Huayra (worth over $2 million), a “Von Krieger” 1936 Mercedes 540 K Special Roadster, ($15 million+), along with 10 rare motorcycles.
