Louboutin Video Celebrates New Saks Fifth Avenue Store

Luxury shoe designer Christian Louboutin has released a new video to mark the opening of its new flagship store at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York.

In the short video, a pair of signature red soles leave a trail of footprints as they travel from Paris to New York, with women following them Peter Pan-like to the holy grail of the new Louboutin store in Manhattan.

The new store is actually a redevelopment of an existing Louboutin shoe salon, and at 1641 square feet, is now one of the brand’s largest stores in the world.

Christian Louboutin worked with New York-based architectural and product design company 212box to create the store’s distinctive interior design, which features arched niche walls and signature red carpet.

Meanwhile polished stainless steel display tables and red sand stone, chosen for their prized fossil creatures by Louboutin himself in Morocco, are complimented by banquettes covered in colourful geometric patterns.

Speaking about the opening last month, Alexis Mourot, COO of Christian Louboutin, said: “We are thrilled that Saks has given us such a great opportunity to express Christian’s world with a very unique concept.

“Saks has been a great partner over the last several years and we are happy to continue to serve their customers in an enhanced setting.”

After designing women's shoes for Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, and Maud Frizon in the 1980s, Christian Louboutin set up his own company in 1991. Today the brand is one of the world’s most renowned makers of luxury shoes.
