Louis Vuitton Enlists Iconic Figures for Anniversary Project
Louis Vuitton is teaming up with a host of world-renowned creative figures to produce a new collection to mark the French brand’s 160th birthday.
Contributing to the anniversary collection – called “The Icon and the Iconoclasts” – are photographer Cindy Sherman, architect Frank Gehry and designers Marc Newson, Christian Louboutin and Karl Lagerfeld, who will each lend their interpretation of the signature LV monogram for a series of luggage items and purses.
Speaking about the innovative collaboration, Delphine Arnault, Louis Vuitton’s executive vice president, said: “We have assembled an amazing group of talents, geniuses, I would say. Each one is among the best in his or her field.”
“The monogram is at the centre of our house, so we celebrate it every day. But we thought this project was really special because the personalities we chose are fascinating and diverse. It’s a really fun project. It’s done with a lot of humour.”
The new collection is slated to come out mid-October, with prices ranging between $2,700 and $5,500.
Founded in France in 1854, Louis Vuitton has grown to become one of the world’s most renowned luxury brands.
