Lufthansa Offers Beds for First Class Flyers

By Paul Joseph

German airline Lufthansa has introduced a new range of luxury amenities for First Class flyers on some of its business routes – including a separate bed for every passenger.

Ten Boeing 747-400 aircrafts have been upgraded with the beds which are positioned directly alongside the standard chairs in the plane's First Class cabins. Measuring over two metres, the beds feature top quality mattresses and temperature-regulating blankets and pillows, according to Lufthansa.

Sound-absorbing curtains and sound-deadening insulation beneath the carpet will also add to passengers’ comfort, Lufthansa says.

To accommodate the beds, the number of seats in the aircrafts’ business cabins have been reduced from 16 to 8.

In addition to the sleeping facilities, passengers will also be able to enjoy entertainment on new 17-inch high-resolution screens.

Lufthansa is the world's fifth-largest airline in terms of overall passengers carried.
