LVMH Plans to Open Luxury London Hotel

By Paul Joseph

The hotel arm of luxury goods conglomerate LVMH is seeking planning permission to open a new hotel in the heart of London.

The company plans to redevelop two streets in London’s well-heeled Mayfair district with a Cheval Blanc hotel and an underground spa, as well as other offerings such as high-end retail outlets and a Louis Vuitton café.

The development will be a collaboration between LVMH and real instate investor O and H Group that reportedly owns the sites on Grafton Street, New Bond Street and Bruton Lane.

As part of the project, the existing building on Grafton Street and Bruton Lane will be demolished to be wholly replaced by LVMH’s development.

If granted planning permission, work on the LVMH Cheval Blanc hotel will commence at the start of next year, with a slated completion date of late 2022.

In addition to the Mayfair project, LVMH are also hoping to take ownership of several other luxury hotels across the world. This follows the group’s recent acquisition of the Belmond Hotel Group in a $3.2 billion deal.

LVMH currently owns and operates other Cheval Blanc properties in Courchevel, the Maldives and St Barth, with another planned for Paris.
