Marbella Luxury Weekend 2014 Opens Its Doors

By Paul Joseph

The fourth edition of Marbella Luxury Weekend opened its doors to the public in southern Spain today, heralding four days in which the glitzy Puerto Banús becomes the global epicentre of luxury brands.

This year, the event has placed a strong focus on fashion and design and will feature the world's first floating catwalk, where models will parade over the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. A mix of national and international design brands including Custo Barcelona, Andrés Sardá and Bikkembergs will be in attendance to present their new collections on the unique catwalk.

As well as fashion and design, other luxury sectors represented at the show will include cars, with a number of manufacturers bringing their latest models to drive around the port, while several yachts will sit berthed in the Puerto Banús marina.

Another key part of the event will be the “Brands and Trends” forum, organised by the Zagaleta Group, principal sponsors of Marbella Luxury Weekend. The forum will bring together leading executives from major global sectors, who will conduct presentations and panel discussions to discuss a range of topics including innovation, art, luxury, technology, social responsibility and the rise of new markets.

In previous years, the forum attracted fifty speakers, including the Vice President of Inditex and the presidents of Freixenet, Renfe and Coca-Cola, as well as senior executives from KPMG, UBS, Meliá, L’oreal, Tiffany & Co. and Google, among others.

Marbella Luxury Weekend runs until Sunday.8th June.
