Marco Polo Luggage Collection from Bottega Veneta

By M. Tempest

When Tomas Maier took became Bottega Veneta’s creative director in 2001, he banned logos that have come to define modern luxury goods. Bottega Veneta’s recently expanded Marco Polo collection is also devoid of any sort of branding: a five-piece group of rigid cases priced between $2,550 and $3,350.

“I wanted to create products for people like me, who don’t like logos,” he said, restoring the Vicenza, brand’s 1970s motto “When your own initials are enough.”

The handmade cases are crafted from rubberized canvas with contrasting leather trim, which can be customized in your choice of colour combinations.

The Marco Polo also includes several new additions to its signature soft-sided intrecciato leather totes and trolleys, priced between $2,300 and $4,500, and alligator luggage sets, starting at $25,550.
