McLaren & L’Amy Team up on Exclusive Eyewear Collection

By Paul Joseph

British carmakers McLaren have partnered with high-end American eyewear manufacturers L’Amy to create a state-of-the-art eyewear range billed as taking bifocals to a new level.

Called the McLaren Vision Collection, the exclusive range features innovative sunglasses and prescription spectacles built by the design teams of both brands.

Much like the use of advanced technology in McLaren cars, the pieces in the collection boast frames made from 3D-printed titanium and a 3D facial scan to suit the dimensions of the wearer’s face.

Additionally, lenses within the frames will come fixed at just two contact points, offeing a unique “floating” structure to keep the glasses both lightweight and strong. The frames also display rotary hinges designed to enhance the wearer’s comfort.

The McLaren Vision collection was first showcased at the SILMO in September 2018 and has already won the SILMO d’Or Design Award for Technology and Innovation.

The eyewear has now been officially launched at the MIDO Show in Milan and is expected to hit the shelves soon after. Pricing has not yet been announced.

Founded more than 200 years ago, L’Amy have grown to become one of the world's most renowned eyewear makers.
