McLaren MP4-12C makes its mark

Set to be one of the stars at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the newly unveiled MP4-12C features all the design principles of McLaren’s Formula 1 cars and then some.

Low weight was a fundamental factor in the creation of the supercar as were speed, safety and clean-running, resulting in it being built with a carbon fibre composite chassis known as the Carbon MonoCell.

This revolutionary structure acts as the nucleus of the MP4-12C and allows for a new standard of interior design creativity in a vehicle of this size and performance.

A spacious and functional cockpit was the challenge for the team at McLaren, made especially hard when considering the MP4-12C is actually narrower than its competitors.

To answer this demand, the interior of the vehicle offers a symmetry that wraps around the occupants to evoke a feeling of physical and emotional comfort.

All the usual features of high-end supercars are included such as audio, navigation and telephony functions, while revolutionary extras for a vehicle also make themselves know, including a Meridian-produced state-of-the-art sound system which is the first in-car system it has ever developed.
