Mercedes AMG GT C a Half-Century Celebration

Among the array of outstanding automobiles on display at the Detroit Auto Show, which came to a close last weekend, was the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT C.

As AMG completes its 50th anniversary this year, the occasion was lent added resonance and the launch model is considered to be a commemorative edition, available in a limited run of 50 units.

The GT C is a two-seat hardtop equipped with a 550hp twin turbo 4-liter V8 engine that offers a pretty impressive 0-100km/h time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 196mph.

Other features include rear-wheel steering, an electronic limited slip differential and active air management, while a number of louvres under the car can open and close to assist in engine cooling and aerodynamics.

Furthermore, the launch model boasts a matte black external paint finish, and black chrome exterior trim, while the interior features a boast silver pearl and black Nappa leather.

“With the AMG GT C Coupe, we are now expanding our portfolio of sports cars to six models plus the AMG GT3 customer sport racing car,” said company chairman Tobias Moers.

“In fewer than three years, the second vehicle to be developed by us entirely in-house has grown into a family, offering a highly dynamic driving experience in a variety of forms.”

The Mercedes-AMG 2018 GT C is expected to arrive at car dealerships by Summer 2017.
