German luxury car makers Mercedes have unveiled the latest version of its S-Class coupe, called the S65 AMG.

Boasting a twin turbo V12 engine generating 630hp and a speedshift seven-speed automatic transmission, the S65 AMG coupe can go from 0 to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.

One of the most eye-catching aspects of the S65 AMG is its innovative active suspension system. Called Magic Body Control, the system is activated at speeds of between 30 and 180km/h and is said to detect road conditions and adapts the suspension configuration accordingly.

The new model also offers numerous driver assistance features thanks to its Intelligent Drive system, including night vision assistance, Bas Plus assisted emergency braking and driver fatigue alerts.

The Intelligent Drive System also provides alerts for drivers to detect pedestrians and notifies them in the case of their car veering out of its lane.

Other notable additions to Mercedes’ latest S-Class include new 20-inch wheels and heated and ventilated seats in Napa leather on the interior.

The first S65 AMG models are due to be shipped in September 2014, with prices for the German market beginning at €244,000.

First introduced in 1972, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has served as the flagship model for Mercedes for over fifty years in its various incarnations.
