American fashion designer Michael Kors has opened a new flagship store in his home city of New York.

Located in Manhattan’s upscale SoHo district, the store is spread across 22,000 square feet and is the designer’s first to stock his menswear collections including men’s shoes.

The ground floor features accessories including handbags, small leather goods, watches, jewellery, beauty, fragrance and an eyewear collection by Luxottica, while the second floor showcases a large selection of Michael Kors ready-to-wear clothing and footwear.

Design elements such as vintage Murano glass Sputnik chandeliers, sleek metal fixtures, mirrored surfaces and glossy, large-scale photograph give the store a distinctive appearance.

The lower level houses chevron flooring in grey oak bordered by white marble, black embossed leather wall coverings, custom-built, polished and blackened stainless steel fixtures with grey smoked mirrors and grey-marble display cases.

Born in 1959, Michael Kors is best known for designing classic American sportswear for women. In 2013, he was selected for ‘The Time 100’, the magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
