Monaco Yacht Show to Showcase 2012 Luxury Trends

By Paul Joseph

In just over three months, the superyacht industry will congregate once again for the 22nd edition of the Monaco Yacht Show.

Taking place around the principality’s famous Port Hercules marina, the annual event attracts the industry’s key players from the yacht brokerage, build, design, management, equipment and accessories sectors, as well as thousands of visitors including existing owners, potential buyers, yachting enthusiasts and journalists.

Whilst the focus of the 4-day show is inevitably the myriad of stunning vessels that line the marina throughout the event, it is also a prime opportunity for the entire luxury industry to showcase its wares amid the splendour of one of Europe’s most iconic locations.

Taking place as it does towards the end of the year, it is also a timely moment to take stock and assess the performance of the key luxury sectors across the preceding months, as well as identifying the challenges that lay ahead.

Amongst the attendees at this year’s event will be a host of watch, jewellery, car, private jet, property, design, technology and drinks brands, all hoping to grab the attentions of a captive audience of high net-worth individuals.

And coming at a time when all industries are enduring the aftershocks of the global financial crisis, it will be intriguing to discover how these high-end brands are retaining their allure at a time when many – even the ultra-wealthy – are tightening the purse strings.

The 2012 Monaco Yacht Show takes place between 19-22 September.
