Montegrappa Limited Edition Pen Has a Watch in its Crown

By Paul Joseph

Italian luxury goods company Montegrappa have created an innovative limited edition rage of fountain pens, each of which features a 16mm quartz watch.

Called the Bartolomeo Ferracina, an iconic 18th century Italian watchmaker and engineer, the range of 100 piston-filled pens comes in three variations of celluloid: Malachite (green), Indian Rainbow (shades of beige), and Shiny Circles (variations of gray).

Its 16mm quartz watch is driven by a Miyota Movement with a white dial and silver-coloured indexes on the cap crown, along with a complimenting sterling silver gripper.

The in-built pen-watch carries quite a weight and features a celluloid body, sterling trim, a classic piston filling system, and an 18-karat gold nib in a variety of sizes.

Speaking about the new range, Montegrappa CEO Giuseppe Aquila said, ““As Italy’s oldest and premier pen manufacturer, I thought the best tribute to the genius of Bartolomeo would be a pen-watch.”

The creation of the range is part of the brand’s Genio Creativo pen series that has previously celebrated various great artists and thinkers.

It is available on the online Montegrappa store and select outlets worldwide for a retail price of $2,300 each.

Montegrappa was founded in Italy in 1912.
