Most Valuable Whiskey Collection to be Sold

A whiskey collection said to be the most valuable in the world is to go under the hammer at a Sotheby’s auction in London starting in late September.

The collection features 467 bottles and nine casks of whiskey that boast an eye-popping combined value of around $4.9 million.

The whiskeys in the collection consist of scotch and includes offerings from some of the most prestigious whiskey brands across the globe, including Bowmore, Highland Park, and Macallan.

Macallan is represented by more than half of the consignment’s bottles, with 178 Macallan whiskeys spanning years 1926 to 1991 being available for purchase.

Other notable blends in the collection include Glenfiddich and Balvenie’s oldest bottlings, including Balvenie 50 year old 1937, Glenfiddich 50-year-old (1st and 2nd releases), and Glenfiddich 64 year old 1937.

There are also releases from Gordon & Macphail under the G&M label, including the Mortlach and Glenlivet 70-year-old Generations series, Bowmore Black releases, a Limited Edition 40-year-old Bunnahabhain, and the 40-year-old Ardbeg 1965 among others.

The online auction will begin on 27 September 27 and will finish with a live sale at London Olympia on 24 October.
