MYS 19: Emirates Palace Putting Abu Dhabi on the Superyacht Map

By Paul Joseph

Plans to turn Abu Dhabi into one of the world’s best superyacht destinations have been in motion for many years now, and at the forefront of the UAE capital’s endeavours continues to be Emirates Palace.

We sat down with Wyndham Tops, General Manager of the luxury hotel and marina, at the recent Monaco Yacht Show to find out more about the efforts being made to rival its more established superyacht hubs in Europe and elsewhere.

“This is the first year for Abu Dhabi to really be presented to the world at the 2019 Monaco Yacht Show,” he said. “A lot of work is taking place to get to where we are today, and we’re here to really put Abu Dhabi on the map as a superyachts destination.

“Emirates Palace hotel is a very iconic hotel in Abu Dhabi, flagship hotel of the region, and alongside the hotel we have Emirates Palace marina. The hotel consists of a 1.3km beach, 4 private swimming pools, a FIFA football pitch, tennis courts, and all of the luxuries of a 5-star hotel.

“And then at the marina, accompanying with the concierge services of the hotel, we can really offer the best service to our visiting yachts.

“We have a 160-metre visiting berth, we have deep water access into the marine, 6 metres of draft, and we’re right on the Arabian Gulf so it’s easy to come in and out of the marina, and it’s perfect for cruising.”

Few would be surprised if, in a matter of years, Abu Dhabi rolls off the tongue as easily as the Caribbean or the Cote d’Azur when anyone is asked to name the world’s finest superyacht destinations.
