New and Improved Rangefinder for Golfers

By P. Joseph

An enhanced laser rangefinder designed to help golfers reduce their handicap is to go on sale in March.

Priced at £495, the Leica Pinmaster II provides a close-up view of the golf course and measures the precise distance to each pin.

The rangefinder is small enough to fit inside a pocket, enabling players to keep it with them at all times, and is expected to be a popular addition to the gadget kits of golf enthusiasts.

For the Superyacht fraternity, it provides even more reason to head for golf-friendly destinations such as Dubai and the Algarve.

It is the second version of the product to have been released by manufacturer Leica. The camera maker says the new model offers a clearer LED display for more accurate measurement, up to a maximum distance of 750 metres.

To use the rangefinder, golfers must aim it at the pin, and at the press of the button, an invisible laser beam scans the terrain and measures the exact distance to the pin.

The Leica Pinmaster II, which includes a case, battery and carrying strap, will be available in March in the UK and the Republic of Ireland from authorised Leica dealers.
