New BMW M5 Saloon Now Available in the UK

First unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year, the new car features a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 motor. It is available with two top speeds – 250kph limited on the standard car or 305kph limited with an optional M Driver’s Package.

Power in the new model is up by 10 per cent, torque by 30 per cent yet fuel consumption is down by 30 per cent, whilst the car also comes with a seven-speed double-clutch Drivelogic transmission with new comfort driving function.

There is also a low speed assistance function to keep the car moving smoothly through heavy traffic with only a light touch on the accelerator. At the same time the engine characteristics can be switched from Efficient to Sport or Sport Plus through another button in the centre console.

The new BMW M5 Saloon is priced at £73,040 on-the-road. BMW UK says it has 350 advance orders for the Saloon, of which 200 will be supplied this year, with an availability of just 550 in 2012.
