New Lotus clothes range “an expression of a lifestyle”

Lotus have launched a new luxury lifestyle clothing brand, based around the heritage of craftsmanship that has embodied the car manufacturer’s 59-year history.

The range of outerwear and luxury knitwear comes under the banner of Lotus Originals, and reflects the company’s efforts to reposition itself as a lifestyle brand.

Superyachts.com spoke to Antonio Marsocci, Head of Retail at Lotus, to discuss the inspiration behind the concept.

“The collection perfectly reflects the Lotus brand: it is the best of British style - understated and classic,” said Marsocci.

“The collection is historically authentic, inspired by our racing heritage and celebrates the racing success that Lotus is so famous for. Any Lotus project is synonymous with excellence in design and innovation; in this the Lotus Originals collection is no different.”

Marsocci added that Lotus were heavily involved in the creative process of designing the range, which includes 100% cashmere sweaters and hand-treated leather jackets inspired by 1970s racing drivers’ suits.

“We pride ourselves in detail and design,” Marsocci said.

“Every item in the Lotus Originals collection has been exclusively designed for LOTUS under our direct inputs so we have a cohesive and thoroughly 'Lotus' collection.”

Asked whether the clothes will attract non-motor racing enthusiasts, or whether their appeal will be limited to existing Lotus fans, Marsocci had no doubt.

“Lotus Originals is the expression of a lifestyle, a love of craftsmanship and detail are all hallmarks of the Lotus Originals collection,” he said.

“We believe that quality and luxury are appealing to more than just an enthusiast market.”
