A one-of-a-kind 1953 Ferrari will go under the hammer at a Bonham’s auction in California in August.

The Ferrari 250 Europa Coupe Vignale will be sold at Bonham’s Quail Lodge auction, with its striking coach work – created by renowned designer Giovann Michelotti – expected to ensure a significant sale price.

Brought to the US by noted importer Luigi Chinetti, the Coupe was showcased at the 1954 New York Auto Show at Madison Square Garden.

It remained in America until 2009 when it was purchased by a Swiss native, and went onto a win a string of accolades including the “Best of show” awards at both the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and Ferrari Club of America National Concours.

Boasting a tobacco and bruno siena shaded upholstery with matching colour tone along the body, the car has undergone intricate restoration but retains all of its original components.

The 2013 Bonhams Auction of Exceptional Motorcars & Automobilia will take place on August 15th and 16th at Quail Lodge in Carmel, California.

The auction will feature post-War sports cars, GT and touring cars, barn finds, important competition cars, veteran horseless carriages and pre-War classics.
