Porsche Macan EV Set to Enter Production in 2022

By Paul Joseph

German luxury automaker Porsche has announces a timeframe for the production date for the EV variant of its hugely popular Macan model.

Following on from the introduction of the Porsche Taycan electric model last year, production for the EV Macan is expected to begin at the end of 2022, according to Porsche Executive Board Member for Development, Michael Steiner

The next-generation Macan will represent the latest in Porsche’s expanding line-up of electric cars, and is expected to enjoy its official global debut at one of the major car shows that take place in 2022 – perhaps at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The electric Macan is expected to arrive alongside a new electric crossover from compatriot carmaker Audi, which is likely to be called the Q4 e-tron.

There are also rumours that the Porsche Macan might go all-electric by 2024 by ditching all the variants powered by an internal combustion engine.

There’s no word on the technical specifications of the electric Macan as of yet, but is expected to get the same set-up that’s found on the Taycan with possibly a bigger battery.

First unveiled in July 2018, the Macan has become Porsche’s highest-selling model over the last few years.
