Porto Cupecoy: Jewel of the Caribbean

By P. Joseph

Superyacht owners looking for a charming and intimate location that can also accommodate their immense vessel now have the perfect venue on the Caribbean Island of St. Maarten.

The picturesque seaside village of Porto Cupecoy is home to perhaps the most luxurious condominium residences anywhere in the region, boasting elegant boutiques, a Gourmet Marché and a 54 slip deep-water white-glove marina large enough for yachts of up to 90 metres.

Properties range from one to four-bedrooms, sized between 1,000 and 2,928 square feet – all surrounded by the idyllic village and marina. Prices for the residences are between $350,000 - $2.5+ million.

As well as their stunning surroundings, the properties themselves feature tasteful European design, including spacious marble or travertine bathrooms, Viking designer series stainless steel appliances, teak wood kitchen cabinetry, oversized balconies, mahogany interior doors and millwork, and hurricane resistant construction and windows.

Developed by Orient-Express Hotels, Porto Cupecoy had its grand opening at the beginning of last year and is now looking to ramp up interest in its properties.

Incentives for investing in property on the island include unique financial benefits, such as no property taxes, no capital gains taxes and lower than average closing costs for purchase.

The island is also one of the most accessible in the Caribbean, with many non-stop flights now available from transport hubs across the world.
